Its the most wonderful time of the year? Lately, Chicago has had a tremendous amount of snow in the last week and apparently we're getting more snow tonight! Don't get me wrong, I love this time of year, but right now I'm hating the snow and the cold, although it does make for some lovely pictures!

Handmade Christmas....
Every year, my sister and I make all our Christmas tree ornaments. And this year we used recycled magazines and cereal boxes to create all the ornaments.
My sister cut the birds out of cereal boxes and she also made the triangle ornaments.
I made the garland with the Free people magazines that I'd been saving for the last year and it took me a total of 18 hours to complete it (yes, that's right 18 hours!).

Goodbyes and hellos...
This week has been a hard one and I'm glad it's over. Between saying goodbye to some friends and the really cold weather, Monday will seem like the best day of the week. But, on a lighter note, my neighbors got a new puppy and what a cutie she is! I can't wait for them to go out of town because I'm the resident house/ dog sitter in the neighborhood.

In the backyard...
I spent some time in my backyard today, taking some pictures and enjoying
the quiet. But it was dark and rainy for most of the day, so I got a little wet. However, the weather made for some great moody shots.

These streamers have been on the tree since the Fourth of July
and now with the absence of leaves I think they look really nice.
I don't know why, but when I look at this picture
it reminds me of the lyrics "I can see a lot of life in you" from
the song The dress looks nice on you by Sufjan Stevens.

Why I snapped...
For awhile now, my sister has been telling me to start a blog and
I just don't want to, but today seemed like a good day to start
something new and different. Plus last year
around this time my love for photography started
and I want to document the progress I've made.
