new thing.....

we are....

also.....

too....

furthermore....

For Christmas I got Lauren Dukoff's book entitled Family. The book is filled with pictures of Indie bands like: Devendra Banhart, Bats for Lashes, Little Joy, Vetiver, and Joanna Newsom. The photos are incredible. Lauren has been able to captured the bands at their most interesting and memorable moments.I'm happy I got it, it's a great book and so inspiring, too.

restless....

glass....

moody sweatshirt....

Today I spent the day cleaning, getting ready for Christmas and taking pictures. It felt weird to not be studying for tests, I didn't quite know what to do with myself. But I realized that I NEED a brake, and a day or two of not knowing what to do with myself is better then days filled with loads of stress and lots of reading. So I'm going to make the best of these testless days and read a book that I want to read and take lots of pictures, too.

(The pictures above have nothing to do with my post, I just like them)

a year in....

As the year comes to a close, I thought it would be fun to recap on the big and little changes in my life. A lot can change in a years time, but a lot can stay the same too. Sometimes it's hard not to get caught up in a time crunch, and forget it's what we do with our friends, family and life in the 365 days of the year that really count....

January....
Knowledge is power...
Explored my grandparents house and found childhood memories....

February....

watched as my brother grow up over night....

March....
A treat....
passed one of many tests and got treats...

Goodbye.
...and said goodbye to the not so secret squirrel...

April....
So goooooood.....
enjoyed time with my sister....

May....

Go and catch the light....
played light catcher....

Requiem....
and realized that green is really my favorite color...

June....
Swimming.....
sat by the pool and heard laughter and lets of splashes...

July....
The hills are.....
ran through a field....

All things come to an end.......
An end that was a long time coming...but then a beginning....

August....
At the office....
Found the place were my family belongs....

September....
1/52
Started a 52 weeks project....

Shadow of the fog...
and discovered a path to somewhere....

October....

saw the sun rise....

November....
............cold
got over fears and lived to tell about them....

December....

fell in love with winter, snow and coats....

saw light....
remembered the reason, path and person that makes life worth while....

Remember to...

Remember to....

Have a great Thanksgiving! Remember to take a moment and give thanks for the good and even the bad things...

I made a list of things I'm grateful for...

1. God and his unfailing love
2. My family
3. The job that God provided for my dad
4. School
5. Getting over fears
6. My home
7. Lenin the young boy I sponsor though World Vision
8. The kids from Sunday school
9. Good health
10.Finding my purpose

This year has had its up and downs, but I'm so grateful for the chances I've had to grow, learn, and achieve.

Robie House....

Robie House...

A month ago I received an email telling me that my Robie House picture had been short-listed for inclusion in the ninth edition of the Schmap Chicago Guide. If you've not heard of Schmap it's a website specializing in virtual maps for your cellphone or desktop. All I had to do was submit my photo, and whether it was picked or not they would email and let me know.
I sent my picture in and forgot all about it, until Sunday when I got an email back saying that my photo had in fact been chosen and it would be up on the website. I'm so excited, it makes me feel like a real photographer! You can checkout my photo here

8tracks??

music....
I'm a music enthusiast and whenever I get the chance to share musical gems with others, I jump at it. So you can imagine my joy when I found the 8tracks website. You can take your music, crate a mix and then share the mix with others, it sounded like fun and so I gave it a try and it's really fun. I made a mix of my current favs, so sit back and enjoy .

I've been....

City of light

Wow, I'm a horrible blogger I just realized I've not posted since May! I tend to forget about this little blog and then every once in a while I remember this save haven where I can express myself through pictures, words and the randomness that I call life. So I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm really sorry blogosphere for forgetting you.

I have a tendency to start something, but then I get bogged down by life or just stop doing anything because it becomes less important to me. I've been thinking about it and it's time to brake-away from my bad habits and start fresh. I'm not sure if I can do it, but I'm all about trying to be better at "Life." So I'm going to take it slow and see where this blogging thing goes and maybe the other things will fall into place, too.

New lens.......

New lens!!!!!!!

Today, my wonderful sister gave me a Nikon 50mm lens and remote for my camera. I'm so grateful, I still can't believe she gave them to me. She's notorious for her generosity, whether it be a gift, a hug, or an encouraging word she's always doing something that puts others first. She's a truly remarkable person and I'm not just saying this because of the gifts, I'm saying this as a sister and a friend. I'm so glad she's my big sister, my life would not be the same without her. Thank you for always being there for me, you're the best.

That uneasy feeling....

sitting

Today my sister and I had our regular coffee/girl time and while we were at Starbucks, I mentioned that I have a list of things that make me uncomfortable. My sister thought I was kidding and in a way I was. However, as a person who thinks through every detail, I guess I do have a list in the back of my head of the many things that make me feel uneasy. As, we continued talking about the "list", She challenged me to start a photo project. Were, I take a picture of the people, places and things that make me feel that way. After, processing her challenge, I have decided to accept. I'm a little nervous about it, but I will take it a day at a time and hopefully I will realize that feeling uneasy is all in my head and with time the things that make me feel like that, will go away or become less prominent. And so, starting tomorrow, the "it's not you, it's me." project will begin.

Baseball.....

Baseball....

My brother and I went to a baseball game on Sunday. It was perfect weather the sun was shining all day. I haven't been to a game in years and I forgot how much fun they can be and how much sun one gets while setting for hours. Needless to say, I got sun burned and I still have a very red noise and some lobster red arms. I'm a sight for sore eyes, as my sister would say. Although, I'm still red and I had a great time and maybe I'll have to go again before the end of summer.

Sporadic.....

I just realized that I haven't blogged since last Saturday and I really need to be on the ball around here, now that it's Friday and tomorrow being the weekend. I'm trying to blog more and it's not happening. I to promise to blog more in the next week, I say that, but knowing me I probably won't blog again until next month. I apologize right now for the sporadic blogging that will happen. I have been busy with studying for another test and I often get lost in books and forget to do fun things like, blog, take pictures, and check out some of my favorite web sites. However, I did take some pictures this week and out of all them these are my favs....

here you go...

New....

New shirts....

Brand of the free!

The other day in the latest issue of Paste magazine, I read an article about organic graphic t-shirts and where you can buy them. After going to the sites they suggested, I fell in love with the t-shirts at Brand of the Free. They have some wonderful shirts, but I couldn't bring myself to pay 35 dollars for a t-shirt. But, then I saw it...the outlet section. I had to take a look to see if they had any good deals, and they did!
All the shirts in the outlet section were $10. The reason for the good deals you might ask? Well, the shirts are all screen printed and sometimes there's misprints and they don't meet the company's standards because they are less then perfect. They looked fine to me and I ended up buying the lasting liberty and the model nation t-shirts. I purchased them on Wednesday night and I found them in my mail box today! They make a lovely addition to my ever growing collection of graphic t-shirts. I have many plans for wearing them and I'm also planning to buy a few more before summer really starts.

Happiness....

So happy!

Spring is here! I'm glad that I can go outside without freezing to death and that I finally rid myself of my jacket. The weather man said tomorrow and the weekend are going to be in the mid 80's! I'm hoping to get out and take more pictures of the flowering trees in the neighborhood this weekend. I also have some plans for a little reading, movie watching, and maybe a game or two of (the best game in the whole world) Rummikub.
